The Brief
Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated virtual reality game, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, Skydance was looking to solidify their place in the gaming industry as one of the most prominent VR studios. In order to do that, though, they needed to expand upon their existing community to attract new gamers, as well as find ways to interact and engage with their audience more purposefully and meaningfully through digital.
The Approach
Although our initial focus was making the most of a single title, we knew that success would lead to the development of multiple titles from Skydance which allowed us to work together to make that a reality. This collaboration encompassed many years and different workstreams, from go to market planning and strategy, to organic and paid advertising as well as digital experiences and content.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners
Almost as critical as the launch itself was ensuring that we had a measurable way to drive purchases of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. That’s why we worked with Meta to develop a brand new ads product that connects purchase activity within the Meta Quest store to advertising campaigns. As a Meta Business Partner, we were able to not only drive platform innovation to meet Skydance’s needs but also ensure that they were one of the first advertisers to leverage it for their launch. This catapulted The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners to the top of the Meta Quest store, cementing its status as one of the highest selling VR games of all time.
Arashi: Castles of Sin - Final Cut
Skydance looked to build upon their success by extending their award-winning VR talents to a revival of a fan-favorite shinobi adventure game. Since the title had already been released several years ago when VR was still in its infancy, we knew that we needed a content-rich digital experience to introduce this newly refreshed version. The Arashi: Castles of Sin - Final Cut microsite is often the first touchpoint players have with the game, empowering immersion into the world of feudal Japan while highlighting key gameplay improvements that inspire discovery.
Skydance’s BEHEMOTH
Skydance’s BEHEMOTH marked the studio’s first AAA rated game with original IP, which allowed us to craft a multi-year strategic roadmap that infused each facet of the game into our go to market planning. From cinematic and gameplay trailers, to interactive digital experiences and activations, we engaged players through intentional moments of discovery that unraveled each narrative of the storyline.
